Forest Vaughn Stiltner Fine Art Prints

From Murals to Pixels—and Back to the Canvas

My journey as an artist began right after high school. Largely self-taught, my first major chapter unfolded while serving with the U.S. Army in Germany, where I spent four years painting large-scale murals alongside smaller commissioned works. That experience laid the foundation for a lifelong career in art.

Over the next 45 years, I built a career as a graphic designer and illustrator, working with advertising agencies, print shops, sign fabricators, and eventually in the fast-paced video game industry before retiring in 2015. Through every stage of that career, I never put down the paintbrush, continuing to create original artwork and commissioned paintings whenever I could.

Today, I've come full circle. I've traded computer screens and commercial deadlines for the quiet rhythm of the easel, where I paint full-time in oils. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Mid-Atlantic—from the Chesapeake Bay to the nearby Appalachian Mountains—as well as wherever my travels take me, I create landscapes, seascapes, portraits, and commissioned works that celebrate light, place, and the stories that connect us.

One of the greatest joys of my work is helping others preserve the moments and places that mean the most to them. Whether it's a family home, a favorite stretch of coastline, a beloved pet, or a treasured memory, I consider it a privilege to transform those experiences into paintings that can be enjoyed and passed down for generations.

I live in Baltimore, Maryland, with my wife of fifty years, close to our three children and seven grandchildren. Their love and support, along with the beauty of the world around me, continue to inspire every painting I create.

If you're looking for a fine art print or a custom painting that captures a special memory, I'd be honored to help tell your story.
